Pause, Practice, & Play – our rhythm & guide
At Small Shifts Matter, we offer tailored-trainings for service professionals as well as individual coaching. Our offerings are guided by our Rhythm of Regulation – Pause, Practice, & Play.
Pause and bring awareness
At the beginning of every training or coaching session, we intentionally pause to notice ourselves and our state of being. As we bring awareness to our mind and body and our window of tolerance, we are able to tune in and notice if there is tightness, constriction, or unexpressed feelings that are welling up inside of us and asking to be released or moved through.
Practice with somatic and mindfulness practices
Once we have identified our state of being and deepened our awareness, we intentionally practice integrating somatic and mindfulness practices. Somatic practices (like Dusting) are micro-movement practices that use the mind-body connection to help us access our internal awareness and listen to the signals our body sends us. Somatic practices can help us release the trauma and stress that is stored in our body. They can also help us find openings within ourselves by expanding internal capacity and creativity. Some examples of somatic practices are bilateral movements blended with meditation, breathing exercises, and/or body scans. These mindful micro-movement practices can be done quickly and unobtrusively.
Play to find creative clarity and collaboration
As we practice, often we find a deeper capacity for playful exploration. We can creatively move through our emotions that are asking to be released. Therapeutic arts activities blended with guided transformational practices help us express those emotions. As we play, we allow our creativity to guide us in uncovering what needs further clarity. Playful art exploration can gently invite a beginner’s mind, freedom to doodle, and note what comes up, seeking clarity and authenticity. Then as we show up as our most authentic selves, we are more connectable and are able to collaborate and nurture a community of belonging.
Coaching rhythm & guide
Our Rhythm of Regulation: Pause, Practice, & Play is our rhythm and guide during our offerings. As we move through that which is asking to be released, we can seek openings and capacity to move forward.
